The number of people at a venue is determined by the Roadmap. All essential staff required to attend the event, including volunteers, are included in the overall gathering number.

All sport events must be conducted in accordance with the Roadmap.

Each representative school sport region will determine the sports and competitions offered for 2021 in alignment with the needs of the local context. All sport events must be conducted with consideration of the Roadmap.

District and regional sport competitions for both indoor and outdoor sports may be conducted, but will be determined by the Queensland Government’s Roadmap at any given point in time. Each individual school will be required to follow the specific advice from Queensland’s Chief Health Officer as it relates to the Local Government Areas in which the schools involved are located.

All national school sport championships conducted by School Sport Australia were officially cancelled in a media statement posted on 9 March 2021.

Contact and non-contact activities may be permitted. While there may not be any physical distancing requirements on the ‘field of play’ for specific sports, how events are conducted will be determined by the Queensland Government’s Roadmap at any given point in time. Each individual sport event be required to follow the specific advice from Queensland’s Chief Health Officer as it relates to the not only the Local Government Areas in which the event is being held, but also considering where attending staff, students and families may be travelling from.
